Create a routine– setting a schedule for the day and sticking to it can help dramatically with keeping your family on track. Include exercise to keep everyone moving, an activity the family can enjoy together, and time spent unwinding before bed.

Prioritise your day tasks – instead of starting the day already feeling overwhelmed, try taking a moment to set out what needs to be done, with the most important jobs at the top of the list. Encourage children to also write down their goals for the day and make sure they have everything they need to complete them.

Take time out – as a parent, it can be easy to forget that you need time to yourself too. If this time is hard to come by, find a few moments in the morning or before bed to take a few deep breaths and centre yourself.

Be to kind to yourself– remember that raising a family during a pandemic is not easy. Celebrate the small wins and treat yourself to something nice.

Focus on the big picture –it is easy to find yourself getting increasingly frustrated by things going wrong around the house. Know that so little of this will matter in month or years’ time, and what you will remember is how you kept your family healthy and happy in these difficult circumstances.
